Klutch

"Klutch - The mastermind behind the Vinyl Killers art project, this Oklahoma born punk revivalist creates stark multi-layered stencils and graffiti work on skateboards, found objects, murals and most famously - vinyl records. His clean spot-graffiti objects celebrate the glory of the punk days while exposing the splendor of true street art. His work has appeared across the country in galleries, skate shops, restaurants, benefits and magazines (appearing first in Thrasher in 1986), and his most recent development of the painted rooms of Hotel Des Arts in San Francisco." - Micheal Fields/Black Market Culture.

Louisa Bertman

Originally a professional modern dancer in NYC, Bertman changed her career direction to illustration and fine arts where she graduated from Parson’s The New School of Design (BFA 1992).

Bertman is a contemporary pop portrait artist who paints powerful personalities. Her unique approach to portraiture is refreshing. She does not shy away from depicting the grotesque or flinch at highlighting the inner angst and beauty of her subjects. But her technique is not her gift. It’s the eyes. Bertman captures the soul of her subjects. She tells their stories.

Bertman’s portraits also promote social awareness and activism for HIV/AIDS and The Holocaust. She collaborated on teaching materials with the book, A is for AIDS, using the alphabet to further confront misconceptions and negative attitudes towards HIV and the AIDS virus.

Recently, Bertman began working on a short 3D animated film titled "Tits" which takes a humorous look at how the world responds to a nursing mother.

Bertman has painted portraits of well-known personalities including musicians, actors, scholars, artists, and activists. From Jules Feiffer to Thelonious Monk, her commissioned portraits reside in private collections and homes worldwide. Many have graced the episodes of television shows such as The Gilmore Girls, and covers and contents of periodicals such as ColoradoBIZ, GQ Russia, Hyphen, Jazziz, LA Journal, Ottawa Life, Playgirl, YRB, etc.
